HI HO.

(excerpt from an old skateboard advertising, about Ed Templeton's new pro model deck from New Deal. i just found again this while cleaning out my old "printings/substance for creative fooding" archives, and i remember that at the time this ad was done, i was almost shocked to see such a strange ad ; note that it was untranslated, the text was in its original form in english in a french magazine...)

OSOSPHERE FESTIVAL - STRASBOURG - SEPTEMBER 27 & 28.

Well, it's ain't this often : there's such an attractive line-up for this year's edition of the Ososphere festival in Strasbourg. Among others, the like of Gotan Project, Avril, Scan X, Laurent Garnier, Télépopmusik, dj Vadim, Sayagg Jazz Machine, le Peuple de l'Herbe, Smith & Mighty, Doctor L, Andrea Parker, Soul Designer, Curtis, Ezekiel, Lee Scratch Perry, Alec Empire, dj Joshua, Tarwater, Programme, Cosmo Vitelli, Nills Peter Molvaer, dj Cam, UHT, Black Sifichi, Kid Loco, Swayzak, David Carreta, the Hacker...
techno, hip hop, dub, nu-jazz... many interesting artists, a lot of real bullshit too, but it's rare enough to see such people around, so i gotta admit that it's something good : "it's something good !". Done.

NOVEMBER 29 : SOMETHING (BETTER) TO DO.

It's not exactly tomorrow, but maybe it deserve a few preparation, like talking about it to my people.
November the 29 will be the great annual Buy Nothing Day.

As related on adbusters page, "Given the direct link between overconsumption and problems ranging from deforestation to global warming (remember, the first "R" is "Reduce"), we'll be asking eco-groups to summon a little royal jelly and "participate by not participating." With vocal support from the greens, BND really could become an eco-holiday sans frontières."
it seems that over years, so called open minded organisations "for a better tomorrow" aren't all in the BND mantra, which, of course, looks prett stupid from my point of view ; more details in a gooooood and coooooorrect english on the above link, which is indeed something you don't wanna miss...

ARGH SHIT ANOTHA 404 ! BUT...

...but this one, from the 404 error messages hall of fame, is so cool i gotta let people know : error 404 ! pretty funny, ain't it ?
(thanks to Flux)

ENGLISH LESSON !

well, at last i do it... as seing my english being such a bad one, i'm taking english lessons, beginnign next week. i guess that the few people around will be glad of it, and what is pretty cool is that fellow readers won't make too much fun of me if it works...

SPINE MAG'S DJ VADIM INTVW

There's a good interview with this Vadim guy, nothing really AMAZING about how he work or what, but some interesting facts... check it out, and while on the SpineMag site, there's an interview with stickers supremo master king (etc...) Solo One. Pretty cool, indeed.

SATURDAY NIGHT !

This last week, my friend Feet got a phone call asking him if he was okay for spin at a party in our local area ; he asked me if i was okay to go spin with him, probably because 1) we do a lot of dates together these last times, and 2) he didn't knew anybody at this little event and 3) there were only hard techno dj's , so Feet and his drum'n'bass skills and myself (with a few hip hop wax) could help the non techno headz. The only fact we knew : the party was for a girl who'll leave France for study in Edimburgh, in Scotland, for the next years. There will be a soundsystem and they rent some big center (usually for vacation camp or something), so even if i was dead tired on saturday evening, we went there, alongside Küs (Feet partner in crime with their drum'n'bass live act), with our little records and a lot of vitamins.

First slap on our faces : the average age was at last 10 years younger than us ; there were tons of boys and girls around their 18's, some older, but all were freeparty peope-look-alike, boys with military dungaree pants, camouflage caps, and girls with the last etnies or emerica shoes, big attitude and tongue piercing that the little young bitches were proud to show to anybody wanna see 'em. damn.
Küs made us laugh to death as a big, black, nice dog felt in love with him, trying to fuck his legs a few times and spent the night following him each time he moved somewhere. Anyway.

Other thing : loads of them were eating X and a few had some mushrooms, at 9 pm, 75% of them were totally drunk and i can't even remember how many of them i saw dealing pieces of hash. Fuck, these little bastards got quantity of whatever you search for. One of them was around his 14 and was exchanging pot with tablets. damn (part. 2).

While we were killing our eardrum with their tribe/bad bad bad hard tech, mixed as good as Rob Liefeld can draw (see how reac i can be, uh ?), we decided quickly to spin very early, enough to let us go out of this trap SOON. shit, i can't stand teenage recreation, i had already live this shit too many times by my early years. it's okay, thanks ! so there were 2 rooms, the main one, and a second one, at first supposed to become the chill out room or something. Well, perfect quiet place for my business, i was thinking, while speaking with the nice cutie girl who was glad to leave eastern France in 3 days... and i understand her, hmmm.
So after the guys "tried" the sound in the little room, i quickly took the tables and did a hip hop set, and shortly after, Feet dropped his jungle biznizz in the main room. by 1am and something we were done and we stopped quite all together, and decided to leave.

Apart a guy asked me for baaaaaaaad french hip hop ("hey man, can't you play some NTM tracks ? what you play just sucks..."), another one asking me if i was into turntablizm ("hey, have you seen the last DMC contest ? man, it's great, you should see that"), another one fucked up ("man, let me kiss you on the mouth, as i love everybody tonight !", which was funny and nice, not like the first one), nothing terrific, minus the fact that i was feeling not at my place, at all.
When i'm doing shit at the radio or in bars or in concerts, it's different. When i'm dj'ing at some friends party, it's the same environment, so i know where i am ; now, it was disturbing cause i was in the middle of what i was 10 to 12 years ago : somebody with a strong desire of being recognized, somebody who want to be knowed as a rebel, as a guy away from "this bullshit sytem, ya know ?", somebody who don't give a fuck about what others says, even if it's better for me ; some kind of young stupid lad with nothing but desire of drugs, sex and rock'n'roll, hotdammmmit ! nothing new, ehhh. time goes, but people goes through the same old schemas, i suppose. Maybe my 30 years anniversary coming slowly (but surely) doesn't help ! anyway. Feet and i promised to never come again in a place where we're the ancestors...

In my eternal desire to spread the good vibes, i tried to play some okay hip hop, not only new shit, even if they probably waited for some mainstream shit ; but no Eminem, Ja Rule or Jay Z in my bag. here's a list of what i play, in the correct order :

Attica Blues "abstract original (deep south mix)" (mo wax)
Wagon Christ "bend over" (ninja tune)
Atmosphere "god's bathroom floor" (rhymesayers)
dj Punk Roc feat. Onyx "roc-in-it" (white)
Jan Delay "ich mochte nicht, dass ihr meine lieder singt !" (buback)
dj Jazzy Jeff feat. J-Live "Charmed life" (bbe)
Terranova "sugarhill" (copasetik)
Blackalicious "alphabet aerobics" (quannum)
the High & Mighty "dirty decibels" (rawkus/eastern conference)
Mos Def, Q-Tip and Tash "bodyrock" (rawkus)

dj Cam "success (Attica Blues mix)" (inflammable)
Cappablack feat. Mandelbrot Set "opposition will bet crushed" (soupdisk)
dj Vadim feat. Motion Man "the terrorist" (ninja tune)
Skitz feat. PhiLife Cypher "cordless mics at 20 pages" (ronin)
Aspects "intrigue (dj Vadim mix)" (Hombre)
Champions of Nature "salsa smurf" (wordplay)
Awesome 2 feat. Jem "freestyle 2" (eye swing)
X Men "musica negra" (asphodel)
the A-Team "i love it when a plan comes together" (massmen)
Cannibal Ox "iron galaxy" (def jux)
Boom Bip & Slug "want" (mush)
Prefuse 73 "point to b" (warp)
Chris de Luca & Peabird feat. Beans "sooperglitcher" (k7!)
Prefuse 73 "when irony wears thin" (warp)
AntiPop Consortium "ghostlawns" (warp)
So Called Artists "sideshow" (mush)
GhostCauldron feat. Apani B Fly "whole world" (k7!)
Nobody feat. Acelayone "faces of the deep" (catskills)
AntiPop Consortium & Patrick Pulsinger "fear" (k7!)
Edan "you suck" (sun moon/landspeed)
Quasimoto "come on feet" (stonesthrow)
TTC "danser" (big dada)
Motorbass "flyin' fingers" (falk music)
Fingathing "parker plays pacaddict" (grand central)
Kela feat. Out Da Ville "accakela" (jazz fudge)
dj Vadim feat. Vakill "it's on" (ninja tune)
Seiji feat. Lyric L "loose lips" (bitasweet)

so it makes around 43 tracks, in around 2 hours, wich makes me quite proud, eh eh eh...
More seriously ? The bastard asking me french hip hop soup can fuck in hell, after all : i played a few french joints, he probably doesn't even know, as dj Bronco has NY guests, dj Cam does instrumental hip hop, one mc from Mandelbrot Set is a french guy but he rap in english nowadays, Motorbass are "just" producers... well, apart TTC, not a french word has been said in my set. I'm feeling guilty now...

DAVE MC KEAN ? ANY DAVE MC KEAN OUT THERE ?

FUCKIN WEATHER. FOR THOSE OF YOU IN HAWAI, I'M FREE FOR THE NEXT WEEKS. (F)

Have you seen how bad the weather was in eastern europe at the end of august/beginning of september ? well, now France went through its own shit time (F). rivers of rain killed around 20 people, and it's frankly a real fat disaster (F)for our south neighbors.
Now, i'm so sad that Sandrine finally got some occupations for the next 10 months, which means staying here again and again...
SOON ! i'll leave. i promise. i cant' stand the rain (anymore).

CAMERON STEWART,"CATWOMAN" artist.

Cameron Stewart, the current "Catwoman" artist (DC Comics) is a great and cool guy. Check his stuff for see it by yourself, and give hima try if you didn't already. his art is briliant and fresh, no worries he'll be something "more" than "upcoming talent", soon.

QUITE COOL. THIS NINJA TUNE HAIRY RUSSIAN DJ MADE MY DAY.

yeah, it was pretty cool to see that dj vadim drop a few words about your friendly June on his last album sleeve.
I'm trying to do my best to promote the best shit for years around my lost eastern france, and we did a few gigs where i've made him and/or his crew come around. and pushing his independant record label, too. maybe all this little activism (little) show to artists that there some people around ready to help to spread the right vibe.
plus, it's huge to get his name on a beautiful cover. yep, as a bonus, it's one of the best sleeve artwork i've seen. check it out. it's already in stores.

AND IT'S NEIL. ONCE AGAIN.

Quickly : there's a interview with Neil Gaiman on Mile High/Comicon, about his Hugo Award for "american gods", a good prize he won one week ago.

JACK CLUBB, WHO ARE YOU ? WHERE ARE YOU ?

Well, i was cleaning all this paper archives at home, loads of stuff that i used to print when it was out of mind to think about my own net connexion. I was printing lot of shit (interviews, reports, bios or biblios...) about Grant Morrison, David Lapham, Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore,... well, you got the point.
And yes, i was printing it on recycled old paper, for you forest lovers out there.
While discovering brand new worlds, courtesy of people from the Bomb or other neopseudosubversiveparallelunderground nerd, there's a couple of things that just speak to me, directly.
I used to print old egroups mailing list archives, like the indie comics one, the vertigo board one, the Alan Moore one, and of course the invisible1 own mailing list. And while readin the old post there, i saw some of the best entertainment i ever had on this egroups website.
Some posts from a certain guy.
A man so-called Jack Clubb.
Those of you who used to talk or read the invisible1 egroup list probably remember the guy ; he was one of the first to jump into the concrete conversation with details about hat makes his life this... different.
Calling him an invisible is frankly an honest thing. the man did great interpretations of who you wanted to be after reading some mid-60's conspiracy sci-fi book, or while watching this good x-files episode (yeah, pretty old, i know...). He was a 40 sumthin (closer to 50) years old american man, who was nearly everything a cross between King Mob, Constantine, Spider Jerusalem and whoever from our favorites authors corner i coud think of.
At first i was thinking about a poor man with nothing to tell, some kind of false invisible enveloppe without a life and stuff in it. After a few posts, i was thinking about some kind of true-false fiction suit from some good author around, and why not from one of our idolized ones. After all, the G man himself, or Warren Ellis and co, were more than able to play this tricky trick.
Me, paranoiac ? you're kidding.
Drugs, fundamentalim, Rolling Stones, Margo St-James, government, KFC, sexuality, Yippie Dem Con, people control, crime stories, laptop, Zenger... Quickly, Jack's posts became the things i waited for.
It looks like it's been years, maybe decades. But i'm talkin about 1999 here...
I'd spent hours by trying to find where this strange but so interesting person could be. trying to get his email, trying to send stuff.
Nothing.
Can you help me, anyone ?

DUE TO TECHNICAL CRAP, PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS...

Yeah it's been already a few days that i didn't post anything ; but it's not that much my own choice. In fact, i was connected almost every day for more than a week, but cannot modify my fuckin blog html template makes me so angry that i think about moving my blog to another hosting service.
In fact, even if all this shit that you read was done on blogger.com, and hosted by blogspot.com, i'm currently looking for some other place, like livejournal or something ; i don't have any but one complain to blogger. the system is very well done, really simple, the choices are great, the whole shit is just fine.
But there's a least one thing that sucks, and that's the big thing i would like to spend some times on these very last days : TEMPLATE !
I got some new links, and i would like to make a change or two in the links/archive side bar, too. Add some others blogs, do some color checkup and... well, whatever, but i just can't do this, i got the "template unavailable on our servers" shit message from blogger, and, well...
it's cool for them to get all this new people (a friend told me that in recent months/weeks, the blogmania became so huge that blogger saw more than 1000 new blog creations a day !) on their "coooooool" service, but my blog looks lost (well, parts of it), and i don't want this.

so, livejournal ?
I gotta check my blogmates first...
